Last week Vetlink / Vetscripts hosted Dr Izak Venter’s webinar on geriatric eye conditions.
During this webinar, Dr Venter advised that geriatric cats over 10 years of age should be screened for hypertension by performing a full ophthalmic examination, measuring the blood pressure, and ideally also performing blood chemistry/urine analysis.

Following this talk, we are going to offer an opportunity for your practice to take advantage of a special ophthalmic examination and hypertension workup at a reduced fee. At the Jhb & Cape Animal Eye Hospitals, we fully understand the difficulty for a general practitioner to be able to examine a fundus well. The indirect ophthalmoscopic examination provides a binocular full-field view of the fundus. It’s the subtle changes that may be very important.
This offer will be available for 2 months only [10th September to 10th November 2023]. Our goal is to provide the ophthalmic examination and blood pressure readings whilst the referring veterinarian can perform the other tests if required.
We encourage you to make contact with clients who have geriatric cats. In order for your client to qualify for this offer, you just need to show them a QR code. This automatically directs them to our website and a registration form for the special offer.
Your client can either photograph the QR code on their mobile phone or you give them a copy of the attached pdf file.
Costs: The normal specialist consultation and BP testing would be R2580.00. This special offer is for R1580.00. Your practice will still receive a full report from us.
If the client specifically requests a Chem10 Idexx blood chemistry test, cystocentesis with urine analysis, the cost of this will be in addition to the special offer fee. If we find other incidental problems that require further attention then the client will be given a quote and can then make a decision regarding any additional management by us.
